    Cape Town Tourism announces strategic management team

    In the latest of several moves under way at Cape Town Tourism, Cape Town Tourism General Manager Mariëtte du Toit and Chairperson Arno Vorster today unveiled their new Management team.

    They are as follows:

    • Mariëtte du Toit - General Manager
    • Hazel Nason - Financial Manager
    • Bronwen d'Oliveira - Membership Manager
    • Cathy Alberts - Marketing and Communications Manager
    • Minnie Dreyer - Special Projects Coordinator
    • Megan Adams - Cape Town Central Manager
    • Tsepo Rametse - Cape Town North Manager
    • Tollie Dreyer - Cape Town East Manager
    • Cape Town South Area Manager to be concluded

    Says Du Toit, "The Executive Committee prioritised the appointment of a strategic Management Team for the new unified Cape Town Tourism. A passionate and energetic team bold enough to spearhead this organization into the future is required. We are committed to further position Cape Town as a premier destination to live in and visit."

    All staff of the former Local Tourism Bureaus in the Cape Town Metropole have been incorporated into the new structure. Internal equity has been addressed and staff given the opportunity to apply for some of the exciting new opportunities available. Du Toit comments: "We are entering a new era of tourism for the Cape Town Metropole and have committed ourselves to include our whole team in this process. The staff of Cape Town Tourism is the face of our City and perform a valuable role in promoting tourism excellence in Cape Town. We have to ensure a stable and healthy working environment that supports a culture of service and genuine hospitality."

    Adding weight to Du Toit's sentiments, Vorster adds, "We are a membership-driven organisation responsible for delivering visitor services to the entire Cape Town Metropole. A strategic partnership exists with Cape Town Routes Unlimited to ensure that Cape Town is firmly positioned as a number one destination both internationally and nationally through world-class visitor services. To this end", he adds, "strategic, practical, on-the-ground leadership plays a vital role."

    Cape Town Tourism has been making news recently as the organisation moved away from municipal boundaries to focus on visitor and tourism industry needs - notably the need to transform tourism. Included among the newly-appointed Management team are Managers to head up the organisation's recently revised tourism hub areas, namely:

    • Cape Town Central (incorporating Cape Town City Centre, Waterfront, and the Atlantic Seaboard up to and including Hout Bay);
    • Cape Town North (incorporating the former Blaauwberg, Tygerberg areas, and Langa);
    • Cape Town South (incorporating the former South Peninsula area, up to Kirstenbosch, Gugulethu and Strandfontein);
    • Cape Town East (incorporating the former Oostenberg, Helderberg areas and Khayelitsha).

    The new Management team is committed to establish and maintain consistent service levels at all these hubs. The organisational design complements the way in which attractions are positioned and accessed by both visitors and locals and further encourages both visitors and locals to explore, enjoy and rediscover the diversity of Cape Town.

    The entire Cape Town Tourism team is focused on delivery where it matters most - on the ground where the need is greatest. Vorster comments that: "Our Executive Committee, made up of members of Cape Town Tourism, looks forward to work in partnership with this team towards fulfilling our mandate as team Cape Town Tourism: The promotion of tourism excellence throughout the Cape Town Metropole to the benefit of both the visitors and the people of this incredible City." Making reference to Cape Town's offering of authentic experiences, Du Toit concludes: "Part of Cape Town Tourism's vision is to be a platform, not only of our City's beautiful attractions, but to also represent our people. Who we are and how we experience our home and place is what the visitor wants to experience. My new Management team shares this vision."
