Win a gig as a VJ

MTV base and Fanta have joined forces to offer one young South African the gig of a lifetime: you could become the first ever South African VJ and win a contract to host MTV base World Chart Express - the brand new music chart show premiering on SABC1 on 28 September 2005 in the 6:30pm slot.

All contenders need is a dynamic personality, passion for music, enthusiasm for global youth culture and ability to represent MTV base. Only South African citizens, aged 18-25, music-savvy, and well spoken in English and any Nguni language will be considered.

MTV base and Fanta will hold live auditions from 9am to 7pm at HQ, Greenpoint, Cape Town on 20 August, Pop Art, Umhlanga, Durban on 21 August and Shoukara (off Rivonia Road), Johannesburg on 27 August.

Alex Okosi, General Manager & Vice President, MTV Networks Africa, says: "Young South Africans have a huge appetite for music from their local artists as well as music from international stars. MTV base World Chart Express delivers a window to the world for South Africans to experience the hottest international and local music in a unique way."

Airing weekly on SABC 1 from 28 September 2005, MTV base World Chart Express will focus on videos burning up the charts in South Africa and around the globe, from music genres such as kwaito, hip-hop, R'n'B and soul. Hosted by the winning VJ, MTV base World Chart Express will provide a window to the South African and global music scene, with each episode also featuring exclusive interviews, latest news and celebrity gossip.
