DDS supports Cape Tech with R700 000's worth of design software

Direct Distribution Services (DDS) - a leading distributor of products to the graphics industry in South Africa - has boosted training capacity at the Cape Technikon's Department of Architectural Technology with a donation of R700 000's worth of computer aided design (CAD) software from VectorWorks.

According to Ivan Shamley, director of DDS, VectorWorks is a user-friendly product, making the art of CAD effortless. "Central to this move was a new emphasis on the developing students' CAD skills from their first year, unlike previous years where this skill was only garnered in their second or third year."

"The curriculum makes extensive use of the VectorWorks product in the Architectural department. It ensures all of our students are properly equipped and effectively trained to enter the job-market," says Mike Rodseth, lecturer of Architectural Technology in the Built Environment and Design Faculty at Cape Technikon.

VectorWorks streamlines every phase of the design and production process, from project set-up and programming to schematic design development and construction documents.

The Cape Technikon has been using VectorWorks products for approximately two years, allowing for seamless migration onto VectorWorks version 9.
