As the award is a member of 'Proudly South African', the organizers decided to announce South Africa's top workplace leaders during this week to coincide with 'Proudly South African Week', as the bosses nominated were 'role models of excellence and proud leadership in our country'.
The finalists, selected from a total of 216 nominations received nationwide, are : (in alphabetical order) Dr C.J. Fauconnier, Chief Executive, Kumba Resources Ltd.; Amanda Madikiza, Marketing Manager, City of Cape Town; Nicholas Motsatse, Executive Director: Corporate Affairs and Marketing, SAMRO; Ann Nurock, CEO, Grey Worldwide SA; Jack Perel, Operations Director, Mediscor PBM (Pty) Ltd and Stephen Ross, CEO, Edgars Consolidated Stores Ltd. This is the 15th anniversary of the Award which honours bosses, who impressed their teams with exceptional leadership skills. Transnet Foundation is the patron and main sponsor of the Award which is organized by the magazine Career Success.
The finalists will meet a panel of judges on Thursday, 30 September and the Boss of the Year 2004 will be announced at a banquet lunch on 15 October at the Sandton Sun & Towers.
