PRISA president also on world body board

PRISA president Mixael de Kock this week returned from New York City where he attended the investiture of the new IPRA world president, as well as meetings of the IPRA World Council and the IPRA Board. De Kock completed a second two-year term as SA national chair on the international body's world council at the end of last year and is now serving a two-year term as a board member of IPRA.

"As a South African citizen I regard my election to the IPRA board as a particular honour."

"During my term on the IPRA board I will be paying particular attention to the body's observation of democratic principles, transparency and accountability. It is also important that the body's world council plays a more significant role in promoting IPRA's affairs globally."

A shared concern in the developing world over the past years has been the high subscription costs in relation to ruling exchange rates and De Kock comments: "One of my prime objectives will be to ensure that senior practitioners in all countries have access to IPRA membership, making the organisation a truly global body."

As a member of the IPRA Board, De Kock has been given the specific portfolio task of promoting intellectual leadership. Over and above these objectives he also will be motivating IPRA members to commit to work actively towards the attainment of the Millennium Goals by 2015.
