Twitter cuts off political advertising on its platform

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has announced - via Twitter - that the microblogging and social networking service will no longer accept political advertising. With the 2020 presidential election in the United States approaching, political advertising on social media has been a hot topic in recent months.

Most recently, Twitter and Facebook received strongly-worded letters from Joe Biden - who is currently campaigning to be named the Democrat presidential candidate - about each platform's refusal to take down a controversial attack ad about Biden's son.
