Peugeot breaks out

The headline sponsorship of a new M-Net series launching in January 2006 has been snapped up within a week of the property becoming available. According to Oracle Airtime Sales, sponsorship for the American drama series, Prison Break, was taken by Peugeot last month.

The series, which was created, written and exclusively produced by Paul Scheuring (A Man Apart), is about a brother's conviction that his sibling was wrongfully jailed and his extreme measures to break his brother out of jail. So extreme, in fact, that he commits a crime to be imprisoned with his brother, so as to orchestrate their escape.

Oracle's Bronwyn Hillhorst says that top series on M-Net have become desirable properties for sponsors and advertisers. They have seen the popularity of headlines sponsorships growing over the past couple of years, because of the excellent return of investment for clients in the form of increased brand awareness. Advertising opportunities around the show, which is scheduled to broadcast during prime time, are still available.
