Radio stations provide first day at school flights

For two children the first week at school was more than memorable; it was spectacular - as both won helicopter rides to school courtesy of radio stations Heart 104.9FM and OFM.

In Cape Town, Liam Cupido and his mother Karen beat the first day fears with a helicopter ride to school accompanied by Heart 104.9FM on-air presenter Julian Naidoo. Liam's mom won this by entering the Ackermans First Day Fly In competition on Heart 104.9FM. He was the envy of all his new schoolmates as he entered Ferndale Primary in Ottery. To celebrate their first day at big school Liam and his new friends were treated to a first day party hosted by Heart 104.9FM and Ackermans.

In Bloemfontein, Charné Viljoen was dropped her off at Willem Postma Primary school in a helicopter, as part of OFM's ‘the year of your life' campaign for 2010. In association with Westline Aviation, the station's breakfast presenters Pieter Möller invited Charné on a helicopter ride over the city of Bloemfontein while he made crossings to the OFM studio.

According to the school's headmaster, Johan Pienaar, the initiative and enthusiasm of OFM is an inspiration to them as teachers, and that they will strive to inspire their learners to make 2010 a great year for all of them.
