South Africa, Australia compete for more than just rugby

In addition to its 2011 Rugby World Cup competitiveness, the South African and Australians are also competing for the New7Wonders of Nature, with Table Mountain and Uluru (Ayers Rock).

Besides the joy of getting one over Australia, if Table Mountain is named one of the New7Wonders, it would also provide an increase in tourism. Tourism hospitality and leisure research company, Grant Thornton, calculated this would generate an additional R1.4 billion in revenue for the year and support about 11 000 employment opportunities in South Africa.

SMS 'Table' to 34874, go to www.votefortablemountain.com, vote via MXit or vote on Facebook. Voting continues until 11.11am on 11/11/11 and the announcement of the Official New7Wonders of Nature will be made later that afternoon.
