Independent's marketing and promotions team is best in Western Cape
The Marketing and Promotions team of Independent Newspapers Cape has been named Marketing Organisation of the Year in the Western Cape by the Institute of Marketing.
This is the first time that Independent Newspapers Cape has won the top provincial award.
This trophy (sponsored by Nasionale Pers) was awarded to the team for their work on events such as the Cape Argus/Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour, the Cape Times/FNB Big Walk, and for helping to raise R13 million for the Red Cross Children's Hospital. Also recognised were the innovative "through-the-line" marketing campaigns that promoted Proudly South African, First African in Space, and other initiatives.
The award also recognized the work done in communicating with the trade and with readers, as well as the numerous awards locally and internationally which have been won by our team.
Independent beat off strong challenges from the Events Office, Interactive Africa, Parmalat, and the Cape Peninsula National Park.
Independent Newspapers Cape publishes the Cape Times, Cape Argus, Weekend Argus and 13 Community Newspapers.
