Sandton Convention Centre gets international conference
Beating bids from Dallas (US) and Sochi (Russia), the Sandton Convention Centre will host the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) fourth World Conference on Doping in Sport in late 2013. The centre started the implementation of its Beyond 2010 strategy in 2008 and has focussed on national and international bids.
"Our focus of building and sustaining partnerships to enhance the region's offering is reaping benefits. We are grateful and proud to be associated with the Johannesburg Tourism Company and City of Johannesburg in presenting a dynamic destination for hosting world events", says Mati Nyazema, executive director at the Sandton Convention Centre.
"We are eager to keep building our reputation and South Africa and Johannesburg's visibility in the global arena. We have already been appointed as the venue of choice for many international and national congresses, conferences and exhibitions in 2011, 2012 and 2013, such as the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists Congress in 2013, India Clothing and Textile Trade in 2011 and Meetings Africa in 2011, to name but a few," concludes Mati.
