International forum, global leaders converge on Cape Town in June

The 11th Fortune/Time/CNN global forum, 'The New Global Opportunity' will convene global policy leaders with the presidents, chairs and CEOs of the world's largest companies to discuss business, economic and social opportunities in the developing world. It will be hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 26-28 June 2010 and is sponsored by Trilogy (presenting partner), Investec Asset Management, Hewlett Packard, Herman Miller, Symantec and McKinsey & Company.

"The forum has a legacy of drawing together some of the brightest minds in business, development and politics to tackle issues in the developing world. We are especially excited this year to be hosting the event in South Africa, when the country has a unique opportunity to seize the legacy of the World Cup to advance its growth and prosperity. The forum will be the centre of economic discussion during this exciting time," says Fortune editor, Andy Serwer.

Political leaders confirm attendance

International and local leaders have already indicated their attendance, including former president, Bill Clinton, French finance minister Christine Lagarde, US trade representative Ron Kirk and former prime minister of Pakistan, Shaukat Aziz. From South Africa, President Jacob Zuma, Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, Graça Machel, Trevor Manuel, Barbara Hogan and Desmond Tutu will attend.

Industry giants

Chairpersons and CEOs from major multinational companies, including Astra Zeneca, China Mobile, Citigroup, Coca-Cola, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Daimler, Deutsche Bank, DuPont, General Electric Transportation, Infosys Technologies, McKinsey, Motorola, Novartis, Royal Dutch Shell, Rio Tinto and WPP. South African business leaders include CEOs Koos Bekker of Naspers, Sol Kerzner of Kerzner International, Jacko Maree of Standard Bank, Patrice Motsepe of African Rainbow Minerals, Sizwe Nxasana of First Rand, Cyril Ramaphosa of Shanduka, Bridgette Radebe of Mmakau Mining, Maria Ramos of ABSA and Johann Rupert of Richemont.

Time editor Rick Stengel, says "The New Global Opportunity represents the idea that global economic power is shifting to the developing world and that these markets are more than just frontiers of growth; they are the sources of new ideas and models that can be applied everywhere.
