T-shirt talent on the catwalk

In a fashion first for Men's Health, the magazine is backing the local design industry by showcasing the best South Africa has to offer in the ever-growing men's fashion sector. The Men's Health Style Challenge has tasked South Africa's top fashion designers with revamping the modern day all-rounder - the T-shirt.

SA designers have the opportunity to portray the essence of Men's Health by designing original, assertive and inspirational T-shirts that reflect a specific frame of mind, attitude and enthusiasm for spring 2005. The T-shirt is a symbolic staple in today's wardrobe, which is exactly why it's been chosen as the canvas for the designers' artistic expression.

Designers from across the country who are participating in the event include Rocketfuel; X&O; Holmes Brothers; Ironfist; Flava; Ephymol; Life by Andre Martin; Bitter Chocolate; Register 7; Strategi and Craig Port.

Men's Health fashion editor Neil Doveton comments: "Everyone owns a T-shirt - it's a wardrobe essential. Even an ordinary white T-shirt can be transformed into a stylish individual piece that every guy can relate to."

The Men's Health Style Challenge is sponsored by Lee Cooper jeans and the new Nissan Murano.

The winning designer will be awarded a trip for two to Paris and the designers' creations will grace the catwalk at an the MH Style Challenge on 16 September at DIS Daylight Studios with all models strutting their stuff inLee Cooper jeans wear and designer T-shirts.
