Fairlady scoops Pica for Best Women's General Interest magazine
For the second year in a row, Fairlady has been awarded the MPASA Sappi PICA Award for best Women's General Interest magazine. The Women's General Interest award was the most hotly contested within the consumer magazine awards category, with 10 women's titles vying for the laurels.
The PICA judge's comments indicated that they felt Fairlady had succeeded in its aim to be a truly South African, yet world class magazine, that fully understands and responds to the needs of readers.
The panel of 66 judges described Fairlady as a "true reflection of SA" and "relevant to the current situation", offering "more substance than similar magazines." They also commented on the "good, cutting edge journalism" and described the magazine as "gutsy" and "a read for real women".
"We are extremely happy to have won in the extremely competitive women's general interest category two years in a row and are particularly pleased about the judges recognition of the standard of journalism as a point of difference from our competitors," said Fairlady editor Ann Donald.
