What makes this Loeries committee member tick?

With the festival weekend fast approaching for the 30th Annual Loerie Awards, we've been asking Loeries committee members a few questions - some of them professional, some of them personal - to help you understand what makes them tick. Which committee member's mother was pleased to have him out of the house? Read on to find out.

Q: What were you doing 30 years ago, today?
A: Happily splashing paint on canvas, without a client in sight or any bills to be paid.

Q: What have you done to make your mother proud?
A: I left home before I was asked to.

Q: What is the most effective brand communication you have ever seen (from television advert to business card to head office)?
A: The launch of Orange Mobile in the UK. From the first TV ad I saw, to the product packaging that was hand delivered to me only hours after I signed up.

Q: What do you do to encourage creativity in your own life?
A: Outside work, I listen, watch and absorb. At work, I drive connections with talented, energetic and proactive people. I also try to promote an atmosphere that encourages lateral thinking and opens debate among everyone in the room, no matter what their experience or their position.

Q: What's your most exciting (non-work) activity?
A: If I'm near water, then wakeboarding. If I'm near anything with an engine, then speed. If I'm travelling, then absorbing anything new; people, places, music. But if I'm at home, then nothing beats playing with my kids. Wherever I am, I find it hard to stand still.

Q: What's the best way you can think of to celebrate the big “three-oh”?
A: If you'd asked me 10 years ago I could have told you.

In case you didn't guess, it was Pete Case, founder and creative director of Gloo, in this third interview.
