Fracking film wins award
As part of the annual regional Wildlife and Environmental Society of South Africa (WESSA) awards, Green Renaissance was nominated for the short film series it produced, in collaboration with the Treasure the Karoo Action Group (TKAG), entitled 'Karoo Fracking Chronicles'.
The campaign was created to showcase the value of the Karoo and give first-hand accounts of its importance from people who live there.
The series focuses on a variety of Karoo residents, including Fox Lederboer, the unofficial water bailiff of the Gamkapoort Dam. All these individuals emphasized the absolute necessity of untampered water resources in this fragile ecosystem, which would be affected by the hydraulic fracturing processes (fracking).

To date, over 20 000 people have watched these videos online and the campaign has had significant reach within the local print and online media, including the Cape Times and IOL.Related
