It is under this perspective that AVEA organises just before SITHENGI 2003, from November 9th to 12th, a Master Class on Marketing in close cooperation with VERTICALstrategies, a successful training programme on marketing in Europe. The workshop is meant to be for AVEA graduates and participants with solid production background.
AVEA sees the producer as being the bridge between creativity and the marketplace. Therefore AVEA strongly believes in a connection between sound understanding of the marketplace, successful development of quality content and finally successful marketing of the product. VERTICALstrategies is a proposal to explore these issues with the aim to start to think and act vertically AND strategically.
Local and international distributors, sales agents, commissioning editors and TV buyers will be invited to discuss with the participants subjects like:
Two local case studies (feature and documentary) will be presented by the filmmakers and the producers and discussed with the participants. The case studies serve to reflect the lectures, as an exchange of experience and to explore opportunities to market Southern African product by applying the knowledge from the invited experts.
This workshop also marks the beginning of a future close cooperation between SITHENGI and AVEA, the two institutions being about to sign a joint venture which will be announced soon.
