CAR website races to a new milestone
The CARtoday.com website, one of the most widely accessed consumer websites in the country, reached a new landmark last month when it breached the 100 000 unique users figure for the first time: the site attracted 105 000 unique users and recorded 1.44 million page impressions for May (Source: ClickStream).
The motoring website, the online arm of CAR magazine, was launched in July 1997 as a motoring news service, recording 38 500 page impressions in the first quarter of its operation. Since then it has expanded its content extensively to include new and used car prices, information on 4x4s, finance, insurance, motorsport and road test results. It is regarded as an invaluable source of news on the SA motor industry and an important consumer research tool.
Autolocator, CARtoday.com's online search facility for new and second-hand vehicles that was launched in 2002, has also seen exceptionally growth and recorded record sales – 152 vehicles – in May.
CARtoday.com's valued contribution as an online medium earned it the inaugural Pica Award for publishing excellence on the web in 1999 and again in 2001.
