New-look Visi out in July
Following its purchase of design and décor magazine, Visi, by its long-time publisher New Media, a visual transformation has been commissioned and carried out by graphic artist and indie publisher Garth Walker in time for the winter edition, out in July 2012.
The magazine reportedly has a refreshed high-impact format, a redesigned masthead and a cover with a more 'wow' factor.
"Garth has brought a fresh energy, high standard and great design sensibility to the magazine, which will help guide it through its next evolutionary phase and further ingrain its status as South Africa's best-loved design and décor read," says editorial director, Sumien Brink.
Some important changes
According to Brink, the magazine will be using the best available contributing writers, photographers and stylists. Readers can expect the same uncompromising quality and excellence as well as 100% South African content, but with some important changes.
"We will have four bumper, seasonal issues per year, complemented by two special-interest editions featuring great ideas and new thinking from our talented team." On the architectural design front, readers will be rewarded with a special look at eight strong design structures featured in each issue, concentrating on residential in the first issue.
Based in Durban, Walker reportedly founded two of South Africa's top graphic design studios - Orange Juice and, more recently, Mister Walker - and has worked with many of the country's best-known corporate and consumer brands.
