Deadline looms for Loerie entries

There are only 14 working days until entries for The Loerie Awards 2005 officially close on July 31, which means that those who haven't logged onto www.theloerieawards.co.za to complete their entries should do so as a matter of urgency or risk missing this year's competition.

So says The Loerie Awards managing director, Andrew Human, who added that - for the first time ever thanks to the new entry management system - all entry forms can be submitted online via the website. Once entries have been completed online, labels are provided for each entry as well as postal labels for the packages of physical work which must be forwarded to the Loerie Awards offices.

"The rational behind going electronic means less paperwork hassle for everyone, no endless rewriting of the same information, and more time to focus on polishing that soon-to-be award-winning entry," explained Human.

"Multiple payment options are available, including online credit card payments. The website is also where you'll find all the details regarding entry criteria, categories, and entry preparation as well as all information relevant to joining in the fun in Margate such as travel options, accommodation reservations, ticket purchases for the gala functions and details about optional activities like golf," he said.

The Loerie Awards 2005 management committee comprises Wingwing Mdlulwa, Chairman (Creative Circle), Andrew Human, Managing Director, Russell Cory (Financial Officer), Dee Blackie (MFSA), Veejay Archery (Think), Peter Carr (Commercial Producers Association), Nonjabulo Hlengwa (Café), Gerry Human (Creative Circle), Maserame Mouyeme (Association for Communication and Advertising), Mike Schalit (Creative Circle), Nici Stathacopoulos (Direct), and Roelof van Wyk (Interactive).

"It's been an exciting few months for The Loerie Awards 2005 and we've made significant progress on all fronts," said Mdlulwa. "Not only have we gone electronic as explained above, we appointed Unplugged Architects as event co-ordinator and have been tremendously impressed by their dynamism and enthusiasm for the task; we've signed several additional sponsors so that our tally now stands at M-Net, Media24 and The South African Breweries Limited (major sponsors) as well as Kulula.com, Cell C, Hetzner Africa, Ugu District Municipality, brandhouse, YFM, King James, Six Million Dollar and Beith Digital; and we've confirmed internationally acclaimed designer, teacher and author Ken Cato as the international judge on our design panel, courtesy of the Design Indaba.

"With just over three months to go, the pace is hotting up but we're confident of giving the industry one of the best Loerie bashes ever," he said.
