The bird has flown

The Loerie Awards 2005 is officially open for entries and this year, for the first time ever, all entry forms can be submitted online via the website www.theloerieawards.co.za. Once entries have been completed online, labels are provided for each entry as well as postal labels for the packages of physical work which must be forwarded to the Loerie Awards offices.

"Going electronic means less paperwork hassle for everyone, no endless rewriting of the same information and more time to focus on polishing that soon-to-be award-winning entry," explains Loerie Awards managing director Andrew Human.

"Multiple payment options are available, including online credit card payments - so why not use your Gold Card to Get Gold at the Loeries? The website is also where you'll find all the details regarding entry criteria, categories, entry preparation, and just general niggles."

Critical dates for those managing their agency's entries are:
Exposure qualification: first flighting between 1 June 2004 and 31 July 2005.
1. Entries close: 31 July 2005.
2. Judging: 26 September - 2 October 2005.
3. The Loerie Awards 2005: October 15 and 16.

This year's categories are:

  • Advertising
  • Design
  • Direct
  • Interactive
  • Corporate Video and Events
  • Integrated Campaigns (must be elements from at least three of the categories listed above)

The website contains price and ticket information for the gala events, several of the weekend's social activities, travel options and accommodation. Within a few weeks, the facility to process online booking for all of these will go live on the website.

Human added that planning for this year's event is well on its way. Sponsor identification and sign-up is proceeding well with M-Net, Media 24 and SAB having committed as major sponsors; kulula.com having confirmed as local air travel sponsor; and brandhouse, Hetzner Internet hosting, YFM and Beith Digital all signing up for smaller sponsorships.

The Loerie Awards 2005 committee comprises Wingwing Mdlulwa, Chairman (Creative Circle), Andrew Human, Managing Director, Russell Cory (Financial Officer), Dee Blackie (MFSA), Veejay Archery (Think), Peter Carr (Commercial Producers Association), Nonjabulo Hlengwa (Café), Gerry Human (Creative Circle), Maserame Mouyeme (Association for Communication and Advertising), Mike Schalit (Creative Circle), Nici Stathacopoulos (Direct), and Roelof van Wyk (Interactive).
