MultiChoice Vuka! Awards 2004 workshops launched

Celebrate ten years of democracy and make a difference! Do something with heart and have fun in the exciting and happening world of the film industry.

For the sixth year running, the MultiChoice Africa Foundation will host inspirational workshops across the country in May 2004. Here students and newcomer filmmakers are introduced to the MultiChoice VUKA! Awards 2004 competition and the concept of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for television.

Participants will get the chance to view and discuss local and international PSAs. Everyone at the workshops gets the chance to come up with ideas for a PSA and then present them with storyboards. All receive a workbook which includes extra valuable information such as production notes, interviews with previous winners and advice from industry professionals.

For everyone from advertising and film students, aspirant filmmakers, creative directors, copy writers, or anyone is who passionate about filmmaking, this is your chance to make a difference. Use the format of the PSA to get a positive message across and highlight a worthy cause.

The best entries are then flighted free of charge on selected DStv channels, affording you the opportunity to spread a message of hope to viewers.

The workshop team will be on the road in May 2004. Venues are in five major centres - Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Grahamstown.

So, everyone out there that has heart, whether you are a professional or a newcomer -roll up your sleeves and make a PSA and make a difference!
