Black culture better protected under apartheid claims actor
NEWSWATCH: Actor Sello Maake ka-Ncube has criticised the ANC government, saying that Black culture was protected better and heard better under apartheid, reports Business Day. On a lighter note, ZANews, the new satirical news programme, is up and running, reports IOL and Mail & Guardian Online. IOL also reports that Candice Judith (CJ) Benjamin, Lotus FM Youth Crossfire presenter, has apparently lost her job but plans to challenge the SABC.
For more:
- Business Day: Apartheid did more for black culture, says actor… Award-winning Sello Maake ka-Ncube says Black culture continues to be marginalised; he reckons that in some ways it was actually treated better under apartheid than it is now.
- IOL: Malema sings Beyonce's hit on ZANews… On the new satirical ZANews, the ANCYL leader gets with the mood.
- Mail & Guardian Online: ZANews: A Molotov cocktail in the making… Executive producer Thierry Cassuto says that the show could be akin to a Molotov cocktail if politicians get upset, but he and the team are determined to make ZA News a feature of the SA satire scene.
- IOL: Lotus FM DJ to fight for job… Candice Judith (CJ) Benjamin, Lotus FM Youth Crossfire presenter, says all she got was a phone call to inform her that her contract was being terminated. She has denied receiving a "letter of termination" from the SABC and says she's taking legal action.
