Lecturer - Education

• Lecture and assess contact learning and distance learning students in the BEd (Foundation Phase Teaching) and PGCE programmes in the following modules:
• Curriculum design
• Education studies 2
• Education theory, practice and research
• Perform the role and responsibilities of the module coordinator (MC).
• Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
• Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
• Participate in relevant programmes, curriculum, and material development.
• Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
• Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as the registrar’s Office reasonably requires.
• Participate in school-based teaching practice assessments.
• Provide academic support to students.
• Complete all quality assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
• Participate in research and community engagement projects.
• Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
• Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
• Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
• Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
• Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager

• At least three years of higher education teaching and /or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/discipline.
• Knowledge and understanding of education studies.
• Experience in curriculum and materials development.
• Experience in online teaching and learning environments will be an advantage.
• Sound teaching and assessment skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
• High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern information technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Minimum of a master’s in education or equivalent qualification with relevant study in education.
