Feeling lucky?

How did the new "Lucky" radio comercial for GrandWest Casino get into the recording studio??

Okay, so we all know that radio is notoriously unpopular to work on, and that the advertisers need to work hard to maintain listeners' attention, but I think the new GrandWest spot takes it one step too far!

For those of you who haven’t heard it, the spot went something like this:

MV: The other day, Steven was crossing the road when he was hit by a car…
SFX: Screeching tyres, sickening crunch
MV: Luckily, the car was an ambulance!
So, if you’re feeling lucky, there’s no better place to be than GrandWest Casino, with over 200 tables, 2000 slot machines, blah blah blah…

Okay, HOLD ON A MINUTE! When was being hit by a car – ambulance or not – ever considered lucky? Talk about negative connotations! I was driving at the time and it made me want to pull over, in case I hit an errant pedestrian! Is this what advertisers are relying on to get listener’s attention? If so, then I’m definitely in the wrong profession.
