Polka radio ad

There has been wide spread debate surrounding the lack of creativity and new ideas within our borders, I don’t for one second doubt the fact that we harbour some of the most creative and innovative individuals who produce work of such high quality and outstanding creativity. However once in a while there comes along an ad campaign that makes me seriously concerned...

The recent radio campaign promoting the internet company POLKA is one of the worst I have ever had the displeasure of listening to. Their blatant attempt at copying one of the best ever radio advertisements (Opel corsa) adds fuel to the fire regarding lack of creativity.

I have travelled all over the country and I have yet to meet anyone that sound even remotely like that, if they are supposed to be Afrikaans then they failed, if they are supposed to be people with a speech impediment they failed. It sounds like they are a combination of the above and to be honest they failed again. The advertisement is difficult to listen to as well as follow what they are saying.

Am I alone in my complaint regarding this or are there others out there that feel this advertisement should be banned from the airwaves of southern Africa?
