African Metropolis had its world premiere at last years' Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) and has since been featured at festivals all over the world, including Toronto International Film Festival (tiff), International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF).
Redefining African film
Executive producer Steven Markovitz says, "The new film makers in Africa have grown up in the cities and are more tuned in to a global film language. They are currently redefining African film and their talents need to be noticed. We are very glad to present African Metropolis in Cape Town and hope that the release stimulates more awareness and interest in African cinema."
The African Metropolis Short Film Project is an initiative of the Goethe-Institut South Africa and South African executive producer Steven Markovitz, with support from Guaranty Trust Bank and the Hubert Bals Fund of International Film Festival Rotterdam. For more information, go to www.goethe.de/africanmetropolis. Tickets are R35 and can be booked at +27 (0) 21-424 5927.
