IPFA conference kicks off with Moleketi

Deputy Minister of Finance, Jabu Moleketi, will deliver the keynote address at the Institute for Public Finance and Auditing's (IPFA) fourth annual international conference to be held on 13 and 14 September 2005 at the CSIR Convention Centre in Tshwane.

The conference is aimed at assisting practitioners and others in keeping abreast of developments in public finance, allows networking opportunities and the exchange of ideas and information, and provides a forum to highlight and debate these topical issues.

IPFA CE Zahra Cassim says: "This year's conference is focused on infrastructure development as a means to improved service delivery, and the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in achieving this objective.

"The conference will explore how well equipped government is to manage infrastructure projects of this magnitude alone, and whether partnerships with the private sector have been a success or a challenge."

The conference, held jointly with the Chartered Institute for Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), brings a host of both local and international speakers to address topics.

Other speakers include National Treasury's Director of Infrastructure Grants Administration, Malijeng Ngqaleni, Head of the PPP Unit at National Treasury, William Dachs and coordinator of fiscal, monetary and public sector policy at COSATU, Neva Makgetla.
