
Time to unpack one's best chocolate cake recipe

Celebrating that in September, Food Weekly turns two and Sandton City, recently named as the Coolest Shopping Mall at the 2013 Sunday Times Generation Next Awards, turns 40, a cake is essential.
The competition is the brainchild of Hilary Biller, Sunday Times Food Weekly editor, "Few can resist a chocolate cake and the competition is about highlighting the wealth of baking talent in the country and uncovering those treasured chocolate cake recipes."
The Food Weekly team will test the top 20 recipes and six finalists will be selected for an exciting live bake-off to be held at Sandton City on Saturday 14 September in the Fountain Court as part of its 40th birthday celebrations.
The panel of judges includes chefs, bakers and celebrities who are looking for that decadent home baked chocolate cake.
First prize is the top of the range Elba gas electric stove and R10,000 cash; second prize will win appliances to the value of R10,000 from Hirsch's plus R5,000 cash while third prize will walk away with appliances to the value of R5,000 from Hirsch's plus R2,500.
