The Meyerton Mail and Sasolburg Bulletin will be discontinued. The Newspaper Advertising Bureau (NAB) will continue to represent the newspapers and their
forthcoming changes.
Over the past few years the Vaal Triangle has grown tremendously, property development has soared, exciting new entertainment facilities established, and the economic strength of the area has attracted many local and national retailers. Additionally, new shopping centres are sprouting, including Vanderbijlpark's R410 million 'Vaal Mall'.
Vaal Triangle towns have become more community focused, with local services and shopping information being more in demand than general Vaal triangle news. The Vaal Ster identified these changes in Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark and outlying areas Meyerton and Sasolburg, and adapted to meet the demand.
John Bowles, Joint Managing Director for the Newspaper Advertising Bureau (NAB), says: "The time is right to adapt to fundamental changes occurring in the Vaal triangle. We have seen these changes in every other major economic node and the Vaal shows the same trend. The Ster brand can now grow its wings and do what it does best by catering for the business and community in this area with relevant, localised advertising and editorial content."
