The All Media Product Survey (AMPS) figures released this week show that nearly 2,3 million people READ the newspaper every day. Daily Sun has made publishing history by breaching the 300 000 daily sales and the 2,25 million daily readers marks. The tabloid is the only South African daily newspaper ever to achieve these records. It also makes the two-year-old paper the biggest selling, best read daily in all of Africa south of the Sahara.
Daily Sun is also the only daily in the country showing significant growth (28%).
"These figures are a another massive vindication of the effort we are putting into the quality and focus of Daily Sun", says publisher Deon du Plessis. "We sell about 130 000 copies a day more than the next largest daily, the Star. And now we are moving forward to consolidate a national base.
"The latest ABC and AMPS figures show that we are achieving growth in regions further away from Gauteng and are giving our ever-increasing number of loyal readers news and information packaged exactly the way they want it. In fact research shows that this market has well over R55 billion to spend every year.
