New editor for newspaper biking supplement

The Citizen's weekly biking supplement, CitiBike, has so far this new year introduced a new editor, Ian Els, and a new partnership with Magnetic North Publishing.

Els has nearly a decade's worth of experience in the motoring and biking industry and has consulted motor manufacturers on the PR side of things for many years. He has, for the last year and a half, edited magazines within the New Media group, including Dunhill, Privé and Mercedes-Benz Transport. Prior to that, he worked as editor of Topbike for four years and features editor of Topcar for three years.

During his tenure as editor of Topbike, he took it from a 36-page publication to 180 pages and is said to have won over a strong following and much praise from readers and the motorcycle industry for providing a high quality product with exceptional editorial standards.

Comments Els, “For many South Africans biking is a way of life - whether they're on the bike every day, or spend their weeks pining for the weekend and the opportunity to shrug off the stresses of their nine to five jobs. CitiBike will cater to the requirements of all biking enthusiasts in South Africa.

“It's hard not to get excited about the prospect of a weekly biking supplement, aiming to meet the needs of South Africa's avid and rapidly growing biking community.”

The new CitiBike supplement is available in The Citizen every Tuesday.
