Allowing rugby fans access to players
“South African rugby fans are crazy about the game, and to have exclusive footage of star players available directly to your phone is something that we feel will appeal to most fans. It's the first time anything like this has been done in South Africa, and we're extremely excited to launch the rugby product with Absa,” claims Dan Nicholl of Howzit Mobile.
Adds Absa's Matt Ellenbogen. “Fans don't often have the chance to see players outside of the rugby field; the mobisodes offer the chance to see the teams in a whole new context.”
Each mobisode will focus on one of the matches being played that weekend, with all eight teams set to feature in the course of the season.
The Absa Currie Cup Mobisodes launched on Thursday, 14 June, and a new edition is available every Friday morning of the competition for R1.50 to anyone in South Africa with a WAP-enabled handset. Go to www.howzitmobile.com for more information.
