Sibongile Mtyali to programme Motsweding FM
Earlier this week, Motsweding FM announced that it has appointed the first female programme manager in the history of the radio station – Sibongile Mtyali. She takes over as of 1 September 2007.
Station manager Ben Dikobe welcomes her as a fresh tonic to the male-dominated world of broadcasting and says she will be bringing a wealth experience during the tough times faced by the station in the future, especially with new radio stations coming in.
Mtyali comes from a strong radio broadcast background, having carved her career at Radio Mafisa in Rustenburg as presenter and producer, then moving on to become a music complier and librarian and in 2000, programme manager.
Her career path hasn't been only confined to radio: she had a stint at SABC Education (content enterprise with strong experience on children's programme). She also served as the chairperson of National Community Radio Forum (NCRF).
