Broadcast live from Berlin for Soccer World Cup

Cape Town-based events company Promedia has secured a radio studio for stations interested in broadcasting live from Germany during the last week of the Soccer World Cup, when the "who's who" of South African soccer, government and media will be descend on Berlin to receive the handover as the host of the next World Cup in 2010.

A total of eight programme slots are on offer, including breakfast, mid-morning, lunch-time, drive, evening, late night and early morning slots, with 24-hour access for broadcasting and pre-production.

The city of Berlin is transforming public square Brandenburg Gate into a total "World Cup Village". Inspired by football and characterised by German hospitality, the Fan Fest 2006 FIFA World Cup offers a full programme of fun and entertainment.

The festival's public viewing is broken down into two areas: the Official Viewing Area, with video screens (60 m² giant LED displays), a stage, branding the four top sponsors and the Fan Area, with visits by celebrities, past and present soccer stars, catering, fan messages, sports programmes, Internet cafes, special offerings for young people and information centres.

Overall the opportunity to broadcast live from Berlin is an exciting prospect for radio stations and sponsors to bring the action closer to their listeners and report live on a host of events and activities.
