NEWSWATCH: According to IOL, an IFP MP, Albert Mncwango, said yesterday that the proposed Protection of State Information Bill is worse than apartheid - so he should have an interesting week. Meanwhile, north of the border, a New Zealand photojournalist has been released after 25 days of "hell" after being arrested in Zimbabwe, reports Mail & Guardian.

IOL: Info Bill worse than apartheid - IFP... OK, start the countdown to the vilification of Mncwango for dumping the proposed POIB in the same dustbin as apartheid. He is reported to have said that "the public needed to make Parliament reject the bill, if necessary by occupying Parliament in such numbers that it would be impossible for it to be passed into law" and "The people, not Parliament, shall have the final say."
Mail & Guardian: New Zealand lensman freed from Zim jail... Robin Hammond's crime was apparently that he didn't have accreditation and was reporting on refugees fleeing Zimbabwe. He is reported to have said after his release "I was at the mercy of a system where laws are bent to fit politics and human rights are regularly disregarded."
