New MASA board elected

The Marketing Association of South Africa (MASA) announced its new board members at its AGM earlier this month. According to Chris de Villiers, MASA executive director, “The new board members are amongst some of South Africa's top marketers, reflecting the growing awareness of the association and its credibility in the industry.”

Board members are Brenda Koornneef (chair), Heidi Brauer (vice chair), Douglass de Villiers, Enrico du Plessis, Howard Fox, Nicola Kleyn, Bonang Mohale, Ian Penhale, Nandi Scorer, Joanne Siney-Gould, and Linda Siso.

The AGM further announced the introduction of a technical panel of industry experts who will respond to members' queries on marketing, legal issues, best practice, King III, corporate governance, etc. It also discussed the potential for establishing an oversight committee of members who can bring in specialist skills to boost the capacity of the association.

“All the systems are in place and priority objectives have been identified and the association looks forward to building a credible voice for the industry,” concluded De Villiers.

The AGM was held on 6 August 2009.
