Held at the Sandton Convention Centre this week, 6 - 8 June 2006, organisers expected over 10 000 visitors came through the doors and down the stairs (and then up the stairs). The quality of the stands was significantly higher and organisers gave out far more awards for stands than in previous years.
Various events run alongside the expo this year included a speakers showcase by Speakers Inc. and a CRM workshop by Marketing Mix magazine. The growing significance of the show was also evident by the growing number of media on show. There were also increases in exhibitors in Business Wear and Eventing.

The 2005 show clearly demonstrated the phenomenal growth in the marketplace last year, attracting 10 440 visitors to the Johannesburg event - an increase of 10% over the 2004 show attendance figures.
Markex & World of Events has become an annual must-attend showcase for key business and marketing professionals, delivering a 360? showcase of marketing and promotional products and services - inspired solutions to just about every marketing problem.
Markex exhibitors included companies providing corporate and promotional gifts and apparel, exhibition stand builders and designers, industry associations, outdoor advertising and promotions, packaging and printing, point-of-sale advertising material, print and electronic media, promotion and marketing services, reproduction and printing companies, signage, stationery, training and education.
The aligned World of Events showcased suppliers to the special events and associated industries, including catering companies, conference solutions, décor and design, event and production planners and producers, entertainment companies, staging, and lighting and audio visual products and services.
The 2006 Cape event takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre between 26 and 28 July.
