Hire paparazzi to cover your brand

The Daily Sun receives over 700 requests a week for full press and TV coverage for local events from its almost 5 million daily readers. In response to this demand, CTN in alliance with the Daily Sun has announced the launch of Brand Paparazzi, fully fledged “paparazzi” teams who, by invitation only, will cover selected events and offer below-the-line brand promotions for publication nationally through the newspaper and on CTN Stokvel TV.

Invitations to weddings, birthdays, baby showers, tombstone unveilings and a variety of other ‘good time events' will be matched up in advance to clients who want access to this community. The brand message is brought across professionally in line with the brand profile by well-briefed teams. Potential customers get to interact face to face with a brand, respond enthusiastically to the presence of the paparazzi team on site and volunteer endorsements and peer support for a brand.

The results of this testimonial-style support will be seen nationally on screen and in print in a blaze of branded publicity to the delight of hosts and clients.

Combine media impact

The TV channel, in operation for 15 years, regularly covers stokvel activities and offers promotions to clients. The channel, which is also the carrier of the SA Council of Churches' news, which facilitates its national distribution, aims to provide unrivalled community access. This expansion of its TV crews' activities, which includes the full genre of events, provides a powerful opportunity for brands and services.

In 2007, the two formed an alliance to offer a “sight and sound” media combination to advertisers within the same market segment. The newspaper launched The Sun Stokvel News, which shares some of its content on the TV programme, which in turn features in the newspaper. The publication kicked off as a monthly print product focusing on stokvels and has reportedly become the most popular supplement in its line-up.

Tap a lucrative market

Over R300 billion per annum is estimated to be in circulation in this market segment, in largely unbanked cash. The combination media has proven strong delivery and excellent returns for advertisers aimed at this market.

Brand Paparazzi will supply branded content and event coverage on TV and in newspaper's new “good times” publication, whilst branded visits to stokvel groups will continue to be featured in the current media combination.

The teams are to invade the townships almost immediately to kick off production. Annual bookings can provide exclusivity within selected event categories.
