Most Influential Women 2009 announced
The Most Influential Women in Business and Government (MIW) awards for 2009 were announced last week at three countrywide events, sponsored by Wits Business School, Anique Skincare, Jaguar, merSETA, Jenna Clifford and CNBC Africa as the broadcasting partner.
The awards recognise women who are helping to transform the country's social, economic and political landscape. Through a public nomination process, and in conjunction with industry bodies and an expert panel of judges (including Judge Willem Heath and Tina Thomson of Epiphany Leadership), CEO magazine identified the most influential women within the various business sectors of the South African economy and profiled them in the MIW publication.
The winners are:

- Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Petrochemical: Christine Ramon
- Education and Training: Prof Leana Uys and Prof Tebello Nyokong
- Financial Services: Phuti Malabie
- Government: Elzed Adlam
- ICT: Charlotte Mokoena
- Logistics, Shipping & Transport: Sharon Tshabalala
- Manufacturing & Engineering: Anni Bodington, Naadiya Moosajee
- Medical, Dentistry, Health & Veterinary Services: Lynda Bleazard, Sally-Ann Creed (Entrepreneurial winner)
- Mining: Italia Boninelli
- Public Enterprises & Institutions: Khungeka Njobe
- Telecoms, Media, TV, Radio & Press: Patience Stevens
- Welfare: Kim Feinberg
- Wholesale & Retail: Cheron Kraak
- Lifetime Achiever Award: Cathy Donaldson
- Tomorrow's Leader Award: Redi Direko
