The Maverick Awards 2014 open for entries
New entrepreneur awards for youth
Entries close on 28 March and the awards will be presented at a gala dinner on Friday 13 June 2014, at Emperors Palace in Ekurhuleni, hosted by Under 35 Mavericks - a youth-owned enterprise development consultancy.
Key strategic partners include Brand South Africa, the Wits Business School's Centre for Entrepreneurship, as an academic thought leadership partner, Glenfiddich, Parker and Intel Corporation.
The company seeks to lead the accelerated development of a new generation of young, innovative entrepreneurs from today's enthusiastic and inspirational young people. It is intended that these young entrepreneurs will go on to make valuable contributions to the South African economy, which will contribute to improving the lives of all South Africans.
It will rollout initiatives and programmes that will assist young entrepreneurs in the critical areas of market access, creativity and value innovation for sustainable competitive advantage, business growth strategy, marketing for growth in depressed economies, leadership for entrepreneurs, investor readiness as well as value asset creation.
Theme
The awards are looking to identify and acknowledge young entrepreneurs across all industries and sectors who display future oriented, solutions driven, innovative methods, strategies, business models and technologies as their mainstay to success, along with sustainable turnover, increasing market share, growth, employment creation and service excellence.
There will be 10 categories of young entrepreneurs and nominations are open to all young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18-35 who operate their businesses within the borders of South Africa, have been in operation for at least three years and turning over a minimum of R1 million in revenue per annum.
