Fairlady call for entrants to Best of Beauty Awards

The third Best of Beauty Awards has opened for entries in the April issue of Fairlady magazine. This year there are 15 categories to be judged by a panel of beauty boffins and celebrity judges Thulane Hadebe and Jo-Ann Strauss.
Fairlady call for entrants to Best of Beauty Awards

"Hadebe and Strauss will judge the Men's and Fragrance Categories respectively. They add that extra sparkle of glamour that is such a big part of beauty to the mix. Of course, since they're so much in the public eye themselves, they also bring their own in-depth beauty and skin-care know-how to our prestigious panel," says Fairlady editor, Suzy Brokensha.

"With so many products making so many big promises, consumers rely on the testing we do for them, because they know it is both stringent and honest. Our readers are happy to spend money on products they know will deliver on their promises, but they want to know that they are making the right choice. That's where the awards come in: they view our list of award-winning beauty products in the same way as they would view personal advice from a trusted beauty consultant."

Categories, judges

The 15 categories in this year's Awards include: Skincare, Body, Colour (Foundation, Mascara, Lips, Cheeks, Eyes), Hands & Feet, Sun, Fragrance (Women's fragrance only), Nails, Hair, Men (including Men`s Fragrances), Anti-ageing, Tools (Face, Body & Hair), Best South African Product, Best Iconic Product, Best Newcomer Product and Best Beauty Blogger.

Brokensha encourages newcomer brands, as well as iconic, established ones, to enter as she says it is a great way to make a splash in a fiercely competitive market. Most categories are divided into Value and Luxury sub-categories to ensure the fairest assessment of all entries. Beauty products valued at less than R250 are categorised as Value, and those valued from R251-R499 are classified as Luxury. In addition, there is a Premium sub-category for products valued at R500 or more in the categories of Skincare, Body, Men's and Anti-Ageing.

The panel of judges includes editor Suzy Brokensha, junior beauty editor Kelli Clifton, Carlton Hair salon owner and celebrity hair stylist, David Gillson, make-up artist Linda O'Connell and dermatologist Dr Dagmar Whitaker.

The winners of the awards will be announced in the November 2013 print edition of the magazine, on sale from 21 October. This year, once again, there will be a reader competition, with one reader walking away with all the top products featured in the awards.

The closing date for entries is 14 June 2013 and entries should be submitted to www.bestofbeauty.fairlady.com.
