    Quest magazine comes to SA

    The internationally popular knowledge magazine Quest will be launching its first English edition in South Africa, known as Braintainment, through Panorama Publications and Gruner + Jahr (G+J). It will initially be an alternate monthly magazine, with plans to go monthly some time in 2012.

    The title will be available at newsagents throughout SA or by subscription.

    Urs Honegger, MD of Panorama Publications, says, "This is a new concept for the South African market and we believe the magazine complements our existing 17 titles and allows us to enter the growing knowledge magazine sector."

    Andre Möllersmann, head of G+J International Brands and Licenses, adds, "We are delighted that our popular knowledge magazine will now be available in South Africa. We are also confident that the first English version will open up further markets for G+J internationally."

    Braintainment introduces South Africans to the entertaining world of knowledge with the latest achievements in the fields of health and psychology; technology and science; nature and ecology; history and culture; astronomy and aviation; multimedia and gadgets; and ethnology and philosophy.

    Braintainment is part of a strong magazine family, successful under various brand names around the world:

    • The first issue was launched in Germany in 1978.
    • The concept is published monthly in 13 countries internationally under various brand names.
    • Besides the international main publications, 26 international extensions with different editorial focus points were also founded.
    • The popular Quest family sells more than 39 million copies each year.
    • Quest Netherlands won 'Magazine of the Year' in 2010. With a paid circulation of 200,000 copies, Quest is the largest monthly magazine in Netherlands.

      Its readers are described as energetic, talented, curious, creative and open-minded; on top of technology and who undertake challenges. They fall into the higher LSM bracket and are well educated, enjoying the finer things in life.
