BDFM apologises for Absa results blunder
Mzi Malunga, MD of BDFM, yesterday evening, Wednesday, 4 August 2010, released a statement apologising for this week's issue of Financial Mail containing Absa's interim financial results, in the form of an advertisement, which caused the temporary halt in trading of Absa shares on the JSE yesterday.
According to the statement, due to a communication lapse on the part of the Financial Mail, the Absa results which were intended for publication on 6 August found themselves in the public domain on Wednesday. A few retail outlets in Johannesburg received copies of the FM early.
BDFM, publishers of FM, "regrets the early release of the publication which carried the Absa results" and says it has taken steps to ensure that incidents like these do not re-occur.
"We would like to apologise to Absa for this error and the inconvenience it has caused them," concluded Malunga.
