New Plascon mag from New Media

The new Plascon customer magazine, Plascon Spaces will be launched by New Media at Decorex Durban on 19 March 2010 and then to major book stores, Woolworths, 100 Builders Warehouse stores and other Plascon stockists. The 72-page glossy magazine is being repositioned under the editorial leadership of the award-winning Sumien Brink as a handy guide.

The title will offer everything from systematic projects to top-to-toe makeovers with real-life decorating and renovation features. A highlight in the new issue will be a perforated pullout section with quick tips, environmentally friendly info and shortcuts to transform any home.

At R14.99 per copy, the increased print run of 40 000 copies will be available three times a year.

Its predecessor, Plascon Colour has won several awards in the past year, including gold in the custom magazine category at the Advantage Admag Awards, while at the MPASA Pica Awards; the title was highly commended as a leisure and lifestyle customer magazine.

The repositioning is being done in response to the publisher's presentations to Plascon's owners - Freeworld Coatings in November 2009. "We just loved doing some new thinking on the magazine and are confident that we will be addressing big needs in the market. You do not stop decorating because there is a downturn in the economy; you just change the way you think about it. That is exactly what we have done with the new look and repositioning and we are pleased that the client offered us this opportunity," says MD of New Media, Bridget McCarney.

"Quality paint remains the quickest and most cost-effective solution for redecorating and transforming your environment," says Anne Roselt, colour manager for Plascon. "With the new positioning we believe we will serve a bigger audience better, with real solutions, ideas and inspiration."
