    Caxton consolidates community mags

Caxton is consolidating some of its micro-local community glossies Get It to create titles with a bigger footprint, most notably in Johannesburg North, Pretoria and Cape Town. The move coincides with Media24 relaunching its micro-local community title MyWeek with a new look and focus.
    Caxton consolidates community mags

Explains editorial director Danielle Weakley, “Caxton Community Newspapers' publishing strategy has always been micro-local but we found that Get It readers were making their lifestyle choices in slightly broader areas. With this in mind, we felt it would be beneficial to both advertisers and readers to consolidate editions to create bigger local magazines, with a corresponding larger footprint.”

From December 2008, a bumper Joburg Northern Suburbs edition will hit the stands, which will be made up of the trio of Sandton Rosebank, Fourways Bryanston and Northcliff Randburg editions, while in Pretoria and Cape Town, there will be single city edition to correspond to these local areas.

According to Weakley, “Get It is strongly established in its local communities and its pioneering ‘local is lekker' editorial policy remains intact. These flagship editions, although boasting a larger footprint, will remain entirely locally relevant with a good sprinkling of profiles, shopping and lifestyle from all corners of the neighbourhoods they cover.”

As before, these city titles will sit alongside the existing local editions that include Joburg West, Joburg South, Joburg East, Durban Highway and Berea Northglen, Umhlanga Ballito, Bloemfontein, Lowveld and more.
