The PRCC consists of a voluntary committee with a chairman and office bearers. It provides a forum for networking; provides a professional consulting service to those in the PR industry; and facilitates the employment and training of disadvantaged public relations practitioners in established consultancies.

Weaver is a seasoned PR and marketing professional with over 13 years experience in PR consultancy, as well as in the corporate environment. With her extensive knowledge about the industry and a commitment to continuous learning, Weaver says she looks forward to a fruitful year as the chairman of PRCC as she will endeavour to grow the membership for the benefit of the industry.

“Being elected as the chairman of the PRCC is a significant milestone in my career and I am excited about the journey ahead. It is my desire as Bridget Holts' successor to bring new dynamics to the table, to continue our proven track record for excellence as an advisory service for both individual and clients,” says Weaver.

She believes her background in psychology, combined with her experience in consulting across a range of industry sectors, will play a major role when consulting individuals and clients in gaining a deeper insight into businesses and the people within them.

“In terms of personal growth, this opportunity allows me to learn from the finest minds in the consulting arena, some of whom I have admired and respected from afar for many years,” she says. “During my tenure as the chairman I want to learn from the best and in doing so impart learning.”

Weaver says she hopes to reignite the culture of volunteerism amongst old and new PR practitioners and encourage the industry to sit up and take notice of the developments and changes in the PR and marketing sectors for their own benefit.
