South African apps earn international praise

GKxIM, a specialist mobile creative and technology agency, has launched augmented reality apps that are educational aids, receiving international media attention at two major trade shows.
South African apps earn international praise

Founded by creative Graham Kelly and technologist Ian Morrison, its 'Color the World' app is a 3D colouring app, turning an iPad into a 3D colouring book, complete with high-end animation and interactive storytelling.

The app was recently singled out for praise at two major trade shows: CES and the American International Toy Fair.

The same app also created a stir at last week's American International Toy Fair, where over 100,000 new toys were launched.

Educational and fun

The companion app - an Augmented Reality (AR) game called Rainbow Racing - has recently been featured on ABC News amongst others. This app lets kids race down AR rainbows, steering via the iPad's built-in accelerometer. Points are earned by collecting letters to spell out words, making the app educational as well as fun.

In addition, the agency is developing a campaign of apps and content to support the global rollout of the Drip Drops range of toys and merchandise.
