702 Talk Radio celebrates 22 years

South Africa’s leading talk radio station is celebrating its 22nd birthday this week. This Friday will see three veteran 702 Talk Radio hosts back on air ‘as guests’ to celebrate the station’s many milestones.

Joining Gareth Cliff on the 702 Morning Show will be none other than broadcasters John Berks and Stan Katz, with Managing Director Rina Broomberg as always moderating in the background. Berks and Katz were some of the first voices heard on the popular station.

The show will also link-up live with sister station, Cape Talk, where Chris Gibbons and Gary Edwards will join in the discussion. Listeners will remember Edwards as an ex-702 personality as well as Gibbons who re-joined the station earlier this year as the regular Tuesday "By Invitation" show host between 12 and 1pm.

Managing Director Rina Broomberg has announced she is leaving 702 Talk Radio shortly after the Birthday Bash, says Rina, "In 1999, I agreed to rejoin 702 with a three year contract to revitalise the station, and having achieved this, I am taking a short break before accepting another challenge, which is of course, in radio. Radio is my passion, my life! Where else can one see such exceptional growth in business and particularly people, one I simply cannot resist."

Tune in between 6am and 9am on Friday morning for this historic broadcast.
