ABC updates tech, looks at digital certification
The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) has announced an upgrade to its IT system will take place that will allow for more availability of information. It is also investigating the certification of digital formats, including digital-only publications, web traffic and email newsletters.
The certification of digitals is the next logical step, what with the proliferation of digital formats.
The IT upgrade will:
- Do trend analyses from 2006;
- View history of a publication over selected periods;
- Compare the data of selected titles over selected periods;
- Display data graphically;
- Make use of a query function.
The changeover is meant to be seamless, apart from the need for users to create a new user name and password on their first login, as the ABC wants to move away from using ID numbers.
The ABC has also issues ABC Notice No 9 of 2011, which lists three magazines that have transgressed the rules regarding the use of ABC Insignia.
